Looking for the perfect last-minute Christmas gift or the perfect thing to bring to a holiday party?

Look no further – try Rosie’s Gourmet Fudge Kitchen at the Shell Factory shops.

“We’ve got a variety of holiday and specialty fudges, including peppermint crunch and peanut butter banana penuche – that’s an old fashioned brown sugar fudge – like my grandma used to make,” Rosie’s Gourmet Fudge owner Rosie Heuglan said. “We also have a variety of specialty hand-dipped cookies and pretzels, all decorated for the holidays, and Christmas cupcakes.”

Rosie’s has long been a stop for those wanting to give a sweet treat. She has been in business at the Shell Factory location for over 35 years, and many local residents and business party planners use her shop for a great gift or party item.

“You can create your own gift basket, with everything from different types of fudge to marshmallows on a stick,” she said. “You can also create your own party tray filled with fudge and a variety of chocolate covered products.”

It is a popular stop year-round.

“We also have 31 varieties of Big Olaf Ice Cream,” she said.

It is the preferred brand she carries because it is Amish.

“It’s all natural ice cream, all homemade, made out of a local creamery,” she said.

Her speciality case is more than scrumptious, with cupcakes, fudge, chocolates and more.

If you do want a special order, she does need some time and asks that anyone call ahead to the shop.

“A lot of time, people just come in for trays, and we can do that then,” she said.

Heuglan has a long heritage for making specialty fudges and desserts.

“The recipes are my own,” she said, adding that she has three plus decades of experience in the fudge game.

“We do anything fudge,” she said. “Yummy, tasty homemade fudge. We also do shipping, and if you buy three of certain items, you get one free, even after the holidays.”

One of her favorites this year is the peanut butter chocolate chip creation, of course, smothered in fudge.

She and her staff make the fudge fresh daily, a process you can watch if you get in early, and you can taste it right of the marble fudge table

Through the year, she also caters to canine-loving customers, and offers special treats for dogs.

Heuglan is known for collecting for Toys for Tots, this and many other years.

Rosie’s Gourmet Fudge is open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. daily at the Shell Factory Shops. On Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve all of the shops close at 4 p.m.

Rosie’s Gourmet Fudge Kitchen is located in the Shell Factory at 2787 N. Tamiami Trail. The number is 997-5555.
