Ellsworth’s Christmas in July free air conditioner unit winners announced
For the eighth year on a row, Ellsworth’s Heating & Cooling Inc. has given a free air conditioner unit and duct work valued at over $4,500 to a North Fort Myers resident.
“It’s our way of giving back to those who live here year round,” said William Barnes, president of Ellsworth’s. “It’s always a blast, and we have had a lot of people who really needed a new unit over the years. It is a new Trane unit, and we did all the duct work as well,” said Barnes.
“Over the years we have had many deserving and thankful winners. One was a young mother who had no air conditioning, another was an elderly blind resident.”
This year the winners were Ray and Judy Miller, who learned they had won at the North Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce Great Community Treasure Hunt event. “The event itself was great, and we were all shocked when they called my Judy’s name,” said Ray Miller.
The two have been residents here for 14 years, and are active members of Faith Assembly Church on Bayshore Road.
“The new unit is wonderful, and my son said he knows we will see lower utility bills with it. Our air unit was 17 years old,” he said, adding it was carefully maintained.
In fact, the couple has used Ellsworth’s for the last 14 years for their maintenance.
“I thought that was great,” said Barnes.
Barnes said they will do the giveaway again next summer. Residents fill out ballots at their business and various locations around town throughout July of each year, and the winner gets the new air conditioner in August.
