If you mention the world Ireland, many say “I’ve always wanted to go there,” said local resident and owner of Far And Away Travel Ruth Kuehn.

“There’s a quote I read some place that Ireland is the only place in the universe that you can fall in love without actually being there.

“In June it will be my 14th tour to Ireland,” she said. “I go every year, sometimes with a group of friends or sometimes with just a few.”

The tour in June is technically closed, but if someone wants to go, contact her and she may be able to get you in.

“Right now I’m just counting the days and hearing the music,” she said.

“After the tour ends I will go to Belfast,” she said. “It’s the 200th anniversary of the Titanic, it was built there. They have a visitors experience you would not believe.”

On Sept. 7, she will take another group to the Emerald Isle and introduce them to Ireland, and is now offering an Irish Legends Tour. It’s round trip to Dublin, then onto Kilkinney, Waterford, Cork, Killarny, Dingle and Galway.

She’s Scots/Irish, and she’s a long-time member of the Shamrock Club, the Irelands Specialist from Tourism Ireland, and is extremely knowledgeable of all areas of Ireland.

“When people ask me why I keep going back every year, I tell them it is the people, the scenery, the history and the music,” she said, “But most of all the people.”

She also books many trips for local residents to Celtic lands, including Scotland.

Kuehn is also an active member of the Cape Coral Irish American Club, and recently worked and enjoyed the Irish Fest in Cape Coral.

She’s owned Far and Away Travel for the last seven years, and has been in the travel business for the last 27 years. She is also a Scots Agent Specialist and Master Cruise Counselor.

Her agency also arranges tours and cruises at destinations all over the world.

“We’re also a member of the Seven Continents Club, which means I’ve been to all seven and see a little bit of everything,” she said.

She’s also an active member of the North Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce and one of their ambassadors.
