Victory Lane hosting lawnmower pull event

2 min read

For a long time, “lawnmower pulls” were a staple at Victory Lane Caf in North Fort Myers.

Now, after a lengthy absence, they’re back.

The restaurant on Hancock Bridge Parkway will host another event on Saturday starting at 6 p.m. as 1,000-pound tractor mowers ridden by people of all ages will battle it out tug-o-war style for mower supremacy.

Outlaw Tuggers, the company that calls itself Florida’s premier lawn tractor pulling league on its Facebook page, held a benefit last month for “Joy for Jade,” devoted to raising money for a 5-year-old Lehigh Acres girl suffering from lymphoblastic leukemia.

New tractor pullers as well as those who compete on the circuit will put their entry fees on the line in a cash shoot-out, with few hundred dollars possibly on the line.

“We used to do the lawnmower pulls and the trucks a long time ago and just started back up,” said owner Billi Jo Daggett. “We’re going to do it the second Saturday of every month.”

This event will be run pretty much the same way, featuring two lucky dawg rounds and a $25 luck of the draw tug.

It also will feature a drawing for prizes among the spectators, as well as a 50/50 raffle as well as additional prizes.

Daggett said it’s an event in which the whole family can take part and enjoy.

“It brings a very good crowd. It’s a family event. Everybody comes and has fun, and they participate,” Daggett said. “The girls who won was a 15-year-old. Kids are out there pulling, too.”

Outlaw Tuggers was not available for comment by press time.
