‘Kuttin’ Loose’ returns to Pondella Road location
Something old in North Fort Myers is new again, and at the same location, too.
Kuttin’ Loose hair salon, at 390 Pondella Road, has returned after an extended absence at the same place it originally opened a decade ago.
Long-time customers will recognize the workmanship, but maybe not the decor.
Owner Maria Rodriguez has 30 years of salon experience. She said that after spending some time in Orlando working, she’s glad to be back home and reopening her old salon, which she did two weeks ago.
“I really like the area, my clients loved being here and it was very friendly. My family is here and I’m glad to be back,” Rodriguez said. “I’m back to stay.”
Kuttin’ Loose first opened in September 2004 and earned a reputation as a fun, casual place that catered, especially, to women with long hair.
When the economy went bad, many of her clients left town, leaving her with an unappealing option.
“Unfortunately, I chose to leave town and sell the salon to another lady,” Rodriguez said.
Upon returning, Rodriguez has invested heavily, including a remodel the entire place.
Thankfully, she learned a few things while in Orlando in regards to new techniques in cutting, styling, color, anything to do with hair.
“Now, we’re doing nails and we’re also getting an esthetician to come in for skin care,” Rodriguez said.
Like the last time, Rodriguez will specialize in long hair, which means when long-haired people leave, they will still have long hair.
Among the specials is a wash, cut and style for $25.
Rodriguez said that once the salon reestablishes itself, that service won’t exceed $35 and the rest of what she does will also be reasonable.
“I’ve worked at upscale salons charging $300 to $400 for the same services I’m doing for $150. I want everyone to have the opportunity to look good,” Rodriguez said.
Kuttin’ Loose is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.n. Tuesday through Friday and weekends by appointment, although Rodriguez will take emergency appointments anytime.
