Road 41 Grill & Fish Market offers unique blend of dishes

Looking at their menu, there isn’t much the new Road 41 Grill & Fish Market on 13351 North Cleveland Ave. in North Fort Myers (the former Denny’s and Darla’s) doesn’t offer.
It serves three “styles,” American and Asian food, and even has a fish market, which is currently closed for the summer.
Now, it just needs to build on the steady flow of customers developing since its opening.
So far, the reviews have been positive. Road 41 had a soft opening in April and a more formal ribbon cutting recently.
Thomas Lee and Kenny Yao, co-owners of Road 41, believe word-of-mouth, as well as its unique blend of Korean and Chinese fusion dishes, will bring people in.
“It’s been slow, but every day it increases a little, so it’s getting better,” Lee said. “It’s not season, so we weren’t expecting great business right away. So far, so good.”
Among the things they have done to brew up business is become the home of the bi-monthly “Coffee with a Commissioner” meetings as a way to get people in the know through their doors. They also plan to hold other events there in the future.
Both moved to the area in 2002 and after years of working elsewhere, decided to go into business for themselves and chose a building that has seen restaurants come and go, something that hasn’t gone unnoticed by residents.
“People who have lived here a long time wonder if we’re going to survive. People come here and say ‘Oh, here’s another restaurant,'” Lee laughed. “We want to be the place that makes it.”
Yao said the concept is to offer variety. The day starts with breakfast, which features sandwiches on Texas toast and other staples. After lunch, it’s a combination of Korean, Chinese and American fare.
“When people come here, they want that. Some want Korean food or Chinese and they can have that,” Lee said. “The people who come here like the concept.”
Some of the traditional favorites are the burgers and chicken sandwiches, Philly Cheesesteak and shrimp scampi.
Asian favorites include Korean BBQ ribs and Bulgogi, marinated beef sauted with Portabello mushrooms, onions and traditional Bulgogi sauce.
Chinese offerings include Tangsu and Kung Po chicken and Oho Fire Bacon
Many of their sandwiches, can be had for under $10, and their entrees are reasonably priced.
Road 41 Grill & Fish Market is open Monday to Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for breakfast and lunch, and from 5 to 9 p.m. for dinner. It is open Sunday for breakfast and lunch only from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
