NFM furniture store offers ‘unlimited’ selection
His grandfather sold furniture, his father sold furniture and, today, Lane Granitstein carries on the family tradition, though in a slightly different way.
Granitstein serves as vice president of Sofa Beds & Recliners Unlimited at 14910 N. Cleveland Ave., which has been at that location for 30 years and remains one of the oldest businesses in the area.
While the name of the company may tell customers what the store’s bread and butter is, Sofa Beds & Recliners Unlimited is much more. It also sells rugs, accessories, Rattan furniture, bedroom sets, living room sets, ottomans and more, at prices to suit any budget.
Granitstein’s father and grandfather started Sofa Beds & Recliners Unlimited in 1959 selling Castro Convertibles, moving to its present location in 1985.
The company stopped selling Castro Convertibles shortly thereafter when the company went out of business (it has since relaunched) and went into the sofa bed business.
The market is particularly strong in Southwest Florida, where family and friends often come down for vacation, Granitstein said.
“There’s a need for sofa beds. Everybody around here needs sofa beds. People come from out of town and they need one in their office or spare bedroom,” Granitstein said.
Today it sells one of the largest selection of sofa beds and recliners in Southwest Florida. Sofa beds are available in more than 100 styles, 1,000 fabrics, and five different bed sizes. They can be custom made or ready for immediate delivery.
“You can pick from different mattress and mechanism options, you can get whatever fabric, whatever size, any shape. We specialize in sleeper sofas,” Granitstein said.
The same goes for recliners, where you can buy them in all sizes. There is also “The Beast,” one of the largest recliners in the industry, featuring extra support, durability and comfort. When reclined, it extends to 83 inches and can withstand more than 400 pounds of everyday use, according to the company website.
A good sleeper sofa goes from $599 and up, Granitstein said, but you can also get sofa love seats and items for other parts of your home.
They also offer quality tropical rattan and wicker furniture, Florida style furniture, ottomans, chaise lounges and bar stools as well as premium mattresses and nice accessories such as artwork and lamps.
Customers can also buy products online.
Sofa Beds & Recliners Unlimited also furnishes hotels and sells condominiums packages.
Sofa Beds & Recliners Unlimited is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
