Hogbody’s known for its wings and more
Hogbody’s – the very name pretty much tells you what to expect. Great barbecue fare featuring fall-off-the-bone ribs, burgers and their signature chicken wings with more than 50 flavors from which to choose.
It’s been that way since Theresa Raker opened Hogbody’s Bar and Grill in 1993 at the old Wings & Ribs on Cleveland Avenue, moving to its current location at 10440 Bayshore Road more than a decade ago.
In the early days, Raker said things started simple, especially the wings, which run the gamut from mild to very hot.
“When we opened, we had five flavors. Now we have 54 different flavors. Ranch is very popular, but we also have raspberry, Florida Orange, Key West, Jamalaya and even peanut,” Raker said. “The XXX is the hottest.”
Hogbody’s is also known for its baby-back pork ribs that fall off the bone as well as its pulled pork sandwiches and platters.
Hogbody’s is also known for its 19 flavors of burgers from the Hogbody Burger to jalapenos, Black & Bleu to just plan Junk.
Hogbody’s isn’t just wings and ribs. It also has other items such as liver, Haystack onion rings, fried pickles, goat cheese wedges and country fried steak, Raker said. Their platters start at $9 and nearly all their sandwiches can be had for under that price.
Hogbody’s features live music Thursday and Friday nights and karaoke on Saturday nights. Among the specials are 50 cent wings on Tuesday and 99 cent drafts all day on Wednesday. Check the online menu for a list of specials.
Hogbody’s also will cater and offers a full-service bar.
Raker said Hogbody’s is the place to go because it’s been around and knows what the customer wants.
“Our wings are the best in town. That’s what people tell us. We have good service and good food and we’ve been doing it for a long time. We’ve done something right,” Raker said.
Hogbody’s is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
