Trips and more at All-Superstars Preschool
Anne Starr, has the job of running the new location for All-Superstars Preschool, which opened just four months ago at 1313 Laurel Drive in North Fort Myers.
In that short time, All-Superstars has already been named a “Best of” business for both preschool and daycare.
Her mother-in-law, Kate Sroka, started teaching preschoolers in 1993, and two of her other locations are in downtown and midtown Cape Coral, which opened just last year.
The preschool offers high quality and affordable daycare, childcare and preschool, as well as a Saturday Fun Club and summer camps for $99 per week.
The curriculum is based on the Florida State Performance Standards and students are assessed on their progress and parents encouraged to work with their child at home to develop skills.
Starr said the school is unique. First, they do not charge a set fee for the week, but rather for the days attended. If your child only attends three days, you get charged for those days.
They also take their voluntary pre-kindergarten kids out on field trips during the year, as well as with their school-aged kids during the break.
“We have a field trip pretty much every day during the summer, as well as during winter and spring break,” Starr said. “We go to Sky Zone, Zoomer’s, Greenwell’s, Sun Splash, the Yacht Club and so much more.”
On this day, the children were taking a field trip across the street to The Feliciano Family Farm to see baby bunnies, learn about the power of basil, and eat Sno-cones.
They also got to feed baby goats and ponies and had lots of fun.
“We are trying to open the door for people to know more about things like basil, or when a chicken lays an egg, things that are important to kids,” said farm owner Gene Feliciano.
Lourdes Starr, 10, Anne’s daughter, loved the trip, especially all the animals. She serves as her mother’s helper.
“It’s fun. A lot of times we can go and play and have lunch, which I think is good,” Lourdes said. “We pass out the food and help weed the area so it looks prettier.”
Stella Schell, 6, said she enjoyed the trip.
“I liked the bunnies. They were cute and tiny and fluffy. I like when we saw the goats,” Stella said. “I like when we go outside and go on field trips and we can play.”
Children must be at least a year old to attend All-Superstars, and every week the school has a new theme. One week it could be Hawaii and the next zoo animals. The kids learn about that theme and do projects based on them.
Starr said even after a short time at the school, children develop better learning and social skills, giving them a jump once they reach kindergarten.
“They know how to write their names, their vocabulary has improved, they know their colors and they’re counting and they’re having fun doing it,” Starr said. “They didn’t know all that when they came in.”
All-Superstars in North Fort Myers and midtown Cape Coral are open from 6:15 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Downtown location is open from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
