More companies throughout the country are encouraging their workers to get healthy and stay healthy.

Lynx Services, on Bayshore Road, is one of those companies offering its employees a fun way to lose weight and it’s teaming up with a local fitness center to achieve that goal.

Fitness 1440, at the Weaver’s Corner Shopping Center, is going to put on a “Biggest Loser” type competition for employees, including a boot camp and more.

The event began Aug. 28 with a launch party at Lynx Services, with dozens of employees expected to participate.

Lee Physicians Group and many other professionals will be at the launch.

Fitness 1440 general manager Tony Decuicies said he is going to help Lynx on a corporate health program, which will include a second-annual Loser program.

“Lynx has a tremendous employee base. We’ve been trying to recruit them for the last three months with workshops,” Decuicies said. “We got about 25 to 30 contestants, with some really good incentives to continue with the eight-week program.”

Fitness 1440 has put together a boot camp and will give them important information on food, preparation and free consultation with their weight loss counselors, Decuicies said.

There will also be free assessment with the training department and terrific prizes at the end.

“We want to stress how important corporate wellness is, how successful these events have been, and how Lynx and Fitness 1440 are coming together to pride a healthier workforce,” Decuicies said.

Fitness 1440 is doing corporate fitness programs with other companies over the years. Every week, Decuicies and Steven Polyshyn of Lynx have been meeting or holding conference calls weekly in preparation for this event.

Calls to Lynx Services were not returned.
