Winn Dixie employee charged with larceny theft

A cashier at the North Fort Myers Winn-Dixie supermarket was arrested Thursday for larceny theft, according to Lee County Sheriff office officials.

The formal charge is larceny theft $300 or more but less than $5,000.

Brittany Whitaker, 19, was arrested after loss prevention spoke with three customers who complained they were over charged $100 on debit cards.

Reports say Whitaker was thecashier for all three customers and toreoffthe bottom of the receipt that revealed the requested cash back.

The customers are in the process of being reimbursed by the store.
