Car collectors can assist food bank at car show
Saturday, May 23, can be a big day for both car collectors and the Harry Chapin Food Bank. This is the day that the Southwest Florida Corvette Club, in cooperation with Victory Layne Chevrolet (previously Bill Branch Chevrolet) and Auto Quest, is holding a Car and Trunk Show, with all benefits being given to the food bank.
The Car and Trunk Show will be held at Victory Layne Chevrolet, 3984 Central Ave., Fort Myers, between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. The 2010 Chevy Camaro will be available for viewing during the show.
Auto Quest will be featuring European cars, with all being for sale and special donations from the car sales going to the food bank. Between now and May 23, Auto Quest, 14498 S. Tamiami Trail, Fort Myers, will be accepting canned goods with a goal of filling two cars with pantry products; these vehicles will be taken to the May 23 Car and Trunk Show.
In addition, by calling Auto Quest at 432-1700, you can obtain a coupon for a test drive prior to June 30; $25 will go to Harry Chapin Food Bank for each coupon redeemed. Also, cars purchased before Aug. 31 will result in a $250 donation to the food bank.
The Harry Chapin Food Bank solicits, collects and stores quality food for distribution to needy people through a network of local nonprofit agencies in Lee, Collier, Hendry, Charlotte and Glades counties. The food bank’s agencies serve 20,000 people monthly. The Harry Chapin Food Bank distributes more than 4.25 million pounds of food and other grocery products, valued at more than $7 million, per year.
