Danielle Hall named Rotarian of Year by NFM club

Danielle Hall, owner of Bayshore Physical Therapy, was named Rotarian of the Year by the Rotary Club of North Fort Myers.
“There are so many reasons we chose Danielle,” said Rotary President-Elect Deena Westberry. “One reason is because Danielle is always one of the first to volunteer for events our club is involved in such as fund-raisers.”
“She’s done outstanding contributions to the club,” said current President Ed Schumate. “This is the highest individual honor to a club member, and she exemplifies the Rotary’s motto of ‘Service above self.'”
“Danielle has been a very positive asset to our Rotary Club,” said Dwight Sedgwick, secretary/treasurer. “She has served on our board of directors and has organized several club events. She was definitely deserving of being named our Rotarian of the Year.”
“I did not expect this,” said Hall. “I’ve been a Rotarian for four years now and this is my first club. Rotary is important to me because it gives a way to give back to the community, but it goes beyond the community to help people around the world.”
She said she tried to attend every fund-raising event the club had, she also helped organize holiday and other functions and the induction ceremony, where she was presented the award.
“I do what I need to, to help,” she said.
What does she like about the local chapter?
“They have a sense of humor and we have a lot of fun at the meetings, but we also learn a lot about the community,” she said. “It’s amazing what the Rotary Club can do with the help of Rotary International for the community.”
Hall will soon be taking on a major national Rotary fund-raiser in late June, a five-day, 300-mile bicycle marathon to raise money for the Rotary. The Redmond Rotary 2009 Redspoke event will be held July 15-19 in Washington state, going through the Cascade Mountains. Her son lives in the town.
“I learned about it and thought it would be challenging,” Hall said.
She did the ride last year.
“I did it on a mountain bike,” she said. “This year I’m looking forward to doing it on a road bike, hoping to keep up with the boys.”
She’s hoping to get more donations for her ride. Any donation is welcome. Redmond Rotary uses 100 percent of the net proceeds for donations to support literacy programs and transitional housing through Hopelink, and adult developmentally disabled education programs through Bellevue College. “Donations are completely tax deductible because of Rotary,” said Hall. “The Web site allows you to print out the receipt with the tax ID number.”
