Next court appearance set for woman accused of killing local soldier

Ashley East, facing charges in the death of Army Staff Sgt. Danny Beougher, was in court this morning for a pre-trial hearing. She is now due back in court Sept. 14 in the next step of determining her trial date.

Iraq veteran Beougher was killed Dec. 8, 2007 on Hancock Bridge Parkway in North Fort Myers. He was on his way to visit family with his wife, Lauren, who was critically injured in the crash.

According to Samantha Syoen, Communications Director for the State Attorney’s Office, East faces 10 charges related to the death. These include DUI manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident causing death, two counts of leaving the scene of a crash with injury, two counts of leaving a scene of a crash with attended property, one count of driving with no valid drivers license causing death, one count of driving with no valid drivers license causing serious bodily injury, one count of DUI causing serious bodily injury and one count of DUI causing personal/property damage.
