New After School Arts Program at the Alliance

2 min read

The Alliance for the Arts has created an After School Arts Program for students seeking supplementary instruction in visual and performing arts classes. The After School Arts program is offered for students’ grades 1st 8th and coordinates with the school year calendar running August 24 December 18, 2009.

The new program will be led by experienced and knowledgeable instructors in both sections of the curriculum, visual and performance art.

Visual arts classes will combine a variety of mediums and artistic styles in a fun and nurturing environment. Teachers will incorporate art history, studies of famous artists and art awareness to inspire students while they learn the fundamentals by experiment with painting, collage, drawing and more.

Theatre classes utilize improvisation and theatre games as well as scene studies to help students learn how to “sparkle” on stage. A creative fun environment will inspire students to break out of their shell and discover new ways of expressing themselves. There will be a short performance for family and friends at the end of the session.

Busses routes will stop at the Alliance for the Arts, on the corner of Colonial and McGregor, and pick up time will be 6:00PM for parents. Students who do not attend public school are invited to attend as well.

For more information or to enroll contact Scott Guelcher, Education Director at the Alliance for the Arts as (239) 939-2787 or education@artinlee.org.
