Burglary Suspect Runs, Doesn’t Get Far
On Tuesday, September 8, 2009, at approximately 10:33 a.m., deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to Larry’s Pawn Shop, located at 19059 S. Tamiami Trail, Fort Myers, in reference to a past occurred burglary. The manager of the pawn shop explained that within the past day an unknown individual entered the back lot of the business and stole a woman’s mountain bike. Four wooden boards from the company’s exterior fence were also removed. In addition, deputies learned an unlocked truck parked outside the business had been broken into.
On Wednesday, September 9, 2009, investigators reviewed surveillance video from Larry’s Pawn Shop and through previous encounters were able to identify Christopher Michael Bogner (DOB 5/12/80) as the suspect. Later that day, a deputy on road patrol in the San Carlos Park area identified Bogner walking along railroad tracks near Iris Road and Sanibel Boulevard. The deputy stepped out of his vehicle and made contact with Bogner before Bogner ran from the scene. Due to the nature of the situation, deputies established a perimeter and requested assistance from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit.
Later that night, information obtained through the course of the investigation led deputies to a residence located at 19023 Acorn Road, Fort Myers. There they located Bogner, who was placed under arrest and transported to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Delta (South) District. He has been charged with one count of felony Burglary to a Structure and one count of felony Burglary to a Conveyance. He has also been charged with one count each of misdemeanor Damage to Property, misdemeanor Theft and misdemeanor Resisting Arrest. A warrants check of Bogner also revealed an active felony warrant for Petite Theft.
Bogner’s last known address is listed as 18543 Iris Road, Fort Myers.
