Food bank pledges through WGCU Radio
Listeners to WGCU, 90.1, who participate in the Fall FM Radio Pledge Campaign, October 16-23, will also be contributing to the Harry Chapin Food Bank. For every pledge made, The Walmart Foundation will donate $5 to the food bank. Shelley Allman, Walmart market manager, said, “Walmart is proud to join with WGCU to strengthen public broadcasting in Southwest Florida and to nourish our neighbors by supporting the Harry Chapin Food Bank.”
The Harry Chapin Food Bank solicits, collects and stores quality food for distribution to needy people through a network of more than 160 local nonprofit agencies, who provide food to more than 20,000 people monthly. 500,000 pounds of food are distributed monthly. For every dollar donated, $6 in food value goes back to the community. In the past fiscal year, The Harry Chapin Food Bank distributed more than six million pounds of food and other grocery products.
