Shell Factory Post Office’s computer gets upgrade

The U.S. Post Office located in the Shell Factory & Nature Park shops has been upgraded.
The whole computer system has been refined through the U.S. Postal Service, which includes new software, new computer enhancements and new data storage.
“For customer service, it will be a lot faster and smoother transactions for customers,” said Marie McCarthy, post office manager for the Shell Factory. “It launched Monday, Sept. 28, smoothly with reported greater customer satisfaction.”
While the Shell Factory shops are closed Monday and Tuesday for pre-season hours, the post office is open six days a week.
“It is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.,” said McCarthy.
The staff went through training by the Postal Service to use the new enhancements prior to the upgrade.
Named the C.A.R.S. Systems, it has been an enhancement the Shell Factory has been anticipating for several years.
“It’s something we looked at and wanted to do for a long time,” McCarthy said.
“We have a lot of loyal customers we know on a first-name basis,” she continued. “This will serve our customers better. It is our greater appreciation for their business.”
“I like it,” said postal employee Keisha Ennis. “It’s easier for the customers.”
McCarthy also credited Shell Factory Controller Catherine Ricci with getting the upgrade done.
“She saw we needed the upgrade, had the vision and got it accomplished,” she said.
