Arts-Crafts & Plant-A-Palooza to be held Nov. 13-14 at
If you are looking for great deals on arts, crafts, plants and more, plan on attending the annual Arts-Crafts & Plant-A-Palooza to be held at Grace Community Center this weekend, Nov. 13 and 14.
“This is our second annual event and we have added landscaping plants, house plants and a Farmer’s Market this year,” said event coordinator Marsha Smith. “We will also have a bounce house for kids, face painting and more – things kids would be attracted to. That will all be outside in our parking lot.”
She said a change to this year’s activities will be that all the food vendors will also be outside.
“There will also be a big food tent outside that people will be able to eat under and get out of the sun,” she said.
This year will keep the tradition of the bake sale, with more and different booths and vendors.
“One of the missions is doing ‘mixes in a jar’ – everything you need to bake brownies all in one jar. They did it last year with cookie combinations,” she said of returning booth vendors.
“Some new things we will be having are outdoor furniture like
Adirondack chairs and tables, fishing pole holders, novel type of things all out of wood.” she said.
She said one booth will have personalized children’s books, and there will be a booth with calligraphy cards and notes.
“There will also be a lot of personalized items, stained glass, baskets of lots of styles and shapes, quite a few jewelry designers and fine arts vendors,” she said.
There will also be body scrubs, lotions and herbal soaps, baby quilts and doll clothes, landscaping items and more.
The event runs Friday, Nov. 13, from 5 to 9 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 14, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Smith was the coordinator last year as well as this year.
“It is a fun, fun thing,” she said.
All proceeds benefit the Grace Community Center, which is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, something some in the community may not be aware of. It provides numerous services for the community.
“The Thrift Store will also have extended hours during our affair, so people will have a chance to shop in the thrift store as well,” Smith continued.
She’s been a member of the Grace Community Church for four years, the entity that started the center. She said she got involved with the center “pretty much immediately.”
Everyone is welcome, she noted.
“And should your business or company be looking for a place to hold a meeting or party, someone will be on hand to give information on that aspect of the center. too,” she added.
The center features one of the largest spaces available in Lee County for meetings, school or organizational functions and events.
