Spacebox Storage raises funds for officer Garcia

The “Spacebox Storage Damien Garcia Golf Benefit” held Saturday, Oct. 24, at Royal Tee Golf Club for critically injured Cape Coral Police Officer Damien Garcia was a huge success and raised $5,700, according to organizers.

Garcia was involved in a motorcycle accident on June 2, 2009, while on duty and air-lifted to Miami, where he is currently undergoing rehabilitation.

Golf benefit organizer Steve Shortino, property manager for Spacebox Storage, said, “It was a total community effort, and I wish to personally thank the golfers, sponsors, media, private citizens, volunteers and friends who assisted in making this a successful benefit, especially during tough financial times! The proceeds will go directly towards Damien’s medical/ aftercare expenses.”
