Man dead on tracks in North Fort Myers, Sheriff’s Office investigating
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a man on railroad tracks north of Slater Rd.
Deputies were called at 9:10 p.m. Monday night to the tracks of Seminole Gulf Railway where a body was found at the site. According to a spokesperson, it is being considered a death investigation, with few details being released at this time.
The Seminole Gulf Railway’s mystery dinner train was returning to Fort Myers when it hit the body. The train’s conductor reported seeing someone laying on the tracks, but was unable to stop the train on time.
Passengers on a holiday train ride were still on board the train as detectives investigated the scene.
