NFM High hosts hundreds on ‘Red Carpet Knight’
On Tuesday, Dec. 8, North Fort Myers High School hosted hundreds of local eighth graders and their families during its annual open house.
They call it “Red Carpet Knight” and it was for all West Zone area eighth grade students to see the offerings at the school, to help them decide if they want to apply there.
Principal Kimberly Lunger had a lot of high points when she addressed the guests.
“We’ve been an A grade school for two consecutive years, for the 2008-09 and 2007-2008 school years, the only school in the district to get it twice in a row,” she said. “We also received the Five Star Award for the State of Florida.”
Lunger also talked about the school being a Center for Arts and Media – and the advanced programs in those areas in place now. “Our media programs have really grown.””
There is Video Game Design, 3D animation, digital photography, Web design and more.
“If your students are college bound, you can get free college credits,” she said of the school’s Dual Enrollment program, a partnership with Edison Community College. “We have more classes from here that kids could take if they drove to Edison – and they are free, which is awesome.”
To those who want to learn more about specific programs, she suggested viewing the school’s Web site. “It’s a great site, everything you want to know you can find there.”
“If you are currently enrolled in a Lee County School you will get an application in the mail by Friday, Jan 15. At that point there will be eight weeks to fill the paperwork.”
She said the school’s motto sums it up. “It”s where pride and tradition becomes success.”
