Second NFM bank robbery suspect arrested

The second suspect in the November 23rd armed robbery of a Bank of America has been arrested. Daniel Jacob Cook, DOB 3-28-83, is charged with armed robbery with a deadly weapon.

On December 14, 2009, members of the United States Marshals Office Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force received a tip concerning the whereabouts of Cook. Task force members arrived at a residence located at 7760 Bogart Drive in the Suncoast Estates area of North Fort Myers. Cook refused to surrender and entry to the residence was made. Cook was found hiding in the bathroom and was placed into custody without incident.

Cook also had a felony arrest warrant for violation of probation for driving while license suspended – habitual offender.

The United State Marshals Office Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force is comprised of members from the United States Marshals Office, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

Detectives with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Robbery Unit have announced the name of the second suspect in the November 23rd armed robbery of the Bank of America at 18900 North Tamiami Trail.

Detectives have prepared an open booking sheet for Daniel Jacob Cook, a white male with a DOB of 3/28/83. Cook’s last known address is 7762 Bartholomew Drive (Suncoast Estates) in North Fort Myers. Cook is considered armed and dangerous.

Detectives with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Robbery Unit have arrested a North Fort Myers man for the November 23, 2009 armed robbery of the Bank of America at 18900 North Tamiami Trail. Brandon Hughett, DOB 6-20-84, of 9902 Rambo Lane, North Fort Myers, is charged with Robbery with a Firearm.

On November 24, 2009, members of the Robbery Unit received a Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers tip from a person that observed two suspicious vehicles parked in the

Holy Trinity Church parking lot next to the Bank of America the morning it was robbed. The tipster described the vehicles as a 1998 white Lincoln Town car without a license plate attached to the rear. The second was described as a Maroon Cadillac bearing license plate number 274MGX.

A second tipster called Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers and told of observing two males in the parking lot of the Golf World Driving Range near the Bank of America the

morning it was robbed. The caller stated seeing two males putting on dark pullover tops over their clothing. The caller stated the two males were driving a Cadillac or Lincoln that was red in color, although they did not get a license plate.

Robbery detectives traced the vehicle back to Brandon Hughett. Detectives immediately put Hughett under surveillance. A traffic stop was conducted and Hughett was found to be in possession of narcotics and a large amount of cash.

Following a voluntary interview with detectives, Hughett was placed under arrest and charged with the robbery. Detectives continue their search for the second suspect in the case.

On November 23, 2009 at 9:58 am, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call regarding an armed robbery at the Bank of America located at 18900 North Tamiami Trail in the Del Tura Plaza.

Robbery detectives are searching for two white males, who were armed and wearing all black clothing, ski masks and gloves.

The suspects left with an undisclosed amount of money. No one was injured.
