February Art Walk at Burroughs Home
Florida artist Veronica Benning will display her art work at the Burroughs Home, 2505 First Street, Fort Myers, between Friday, February 5, and Friday, February 19. All of her art work will be available for sale and partial proceeds from this showing will benefit the Uncommon Friends Foundation to further the work of the foundation in its effort to teach ethics in a program designed for school children.
An artist reception will be held at the Burroughs Home between 6:00 and 9:00 p.m. on Friday, February 5. The opening of the exhibit is part of the February Art Walk in the River District. Shuttle buses will stop at the Burroughs Home so that participants can view Robinson’s work.
The art work will be available for public viewing and sale daily February 6-19 between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., or evenings by appointment, by calling 337-9505. Art Walk and the art display are open to the public. Benning’s art features many colorful and lively studies done directly from still life. Both representational and abstract works are in oil, acrylic, oil pastel, ink, graphite and gouache. Much of her work is done directly from nature.
Benning has participated in numerous one-person, juried, and group exhibitions around the nation, many of them in the Lee County area, including the Alliance of the Arts, Edison State College, Cape Coral Arts Studio, Caloosa Yacht and Racquet Club, U.S. Court and Federal Building, Art League of Bonita Springs, and Gallery Nave. She has also exhibited at the von Liebig Art Center in Naples.
The Uncommon Friends Foundation, established in 1993, is a character education foundation whose mission is to instill ethics, moral values and a sense of purpose in tomorrow’s leaders. The foundation is dedicated to enriching society by promoting the positive values author James D. Newton discovered in five unique men and their wives-Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Harvey Firestone, Dr. Alexis Carrel, and Charles Lindbergh-intellectual giants who helped shape the 20th Century.
