Registration date announced for Alliance Summer Art Camps
Registration begins February 1, 2010 for the Lee County Alliance for the Arts summer camp programs sponsored by Family Thrift Center. Kicking off the 22nd annual Summer Arts Camp and 3rd Annual Triple Threat Musical Theatre Camp, the Alliance welcomes campers, grades 1st-9th, to develop and explore their visual and performing arts skills, revolving around weekly themes.
“Summer Arts Camp” is scheduled to begin June 21 August 13 for children entering grades 1st-6th. “Triple Threat Musical Theatre Summer Camp” begins June 28th July 23rd for children entering grades 7th 9th.
Summer Arts Camp students are grouped by age and fill their day with visual arts projects and performing art activities culminating in a weekly show for friends and family. The performance, that begins each Friday at 2:30PM in the Alliance’s Foulds Theatre showcases artwork completed during the week along with coordinated song and dance.
The Triple Threat Musical Theatre Camp is held at The Off Broadway Palm Theatre at The Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre. Campers learn techniques that give them skills to become a “triple threat,” dancing, singing and acting. On the last Friday of camp, beginning at 4PM, friends and family take their seats for a musical performance of song and dance.
Check out some of the weekly theme coming in 2010. At Summer Arts Camp, student will be Traveling “Into the Wild”, singing a Salute to the “Stars and Stripes,” going on an “Undersea Adventure” and creating “Mad Science” at the Alliance campus. Over at Broadway Palm, Triple Threat campers will develop their skills studying “Broadway on the Big Screen,” learning the history of “Broadway Through the Years” and celebrate America with “Red, White and Broadway.”
