Save The Pets Alliance expands
The Save the Pets Alliance is proud to announce that it’s expanding it’s distribution of pet food to reach out to Collier & Charlotte Counties. This expansion is coming about due to the overwhelming need and the huge response from the community including two major corporations that have stepped up to support this cause.
Royal Canin USA, A global leader in pet nutrition has donated 10 tons of dog & cat food to Save The Pets Alliance. We’d like to thank the Save The Pets Alliance for allowing us the opportunity to help feed hungry pets in Florida. Royal Canin is fully committed to the health and well-being of dogs and cats, and we are proud to be associated with an organization whose mission is also to improve the lives of animals stated Ms.Cori Breckenridge from Royal Canin USA. This donation is Approximate 2 1/2 months of food to distribute to the food pantry agencies. The food pantry agencies have grown from 7 in May-2009 to 14 at year’s end, including 3 more agencies in Collier & Charlotte counties.
Due to the new increase of distribution points, PETCO has agreed to accept pet food donations in all PETCO Stores in Lee, Collier & Charlotte. Save the Pets Alliance has distributed over 50,000 pounds of pet food from June-2009 to December-2009. We would like to take this time to thank all our volunteers that pickup food and deliver them to Harry Chapin Food Bank.
“Best friends are forever. Don’t let them lose their families over a bowl of food” is the motto for the Save the Pets Alliance. Times are hard all around, and shelters are getting an increasing number of animals because their families just cannot afford to keep them. The Save the Pets Alliance understands that best friends are forever, and they are working to keep it that way.
The Save the Pets Alliance is a cooperative effort of The Animal Refuge Center, Lee County Animal Services, Caloosa Veterinary Medical Society, PETCO, Cyber Sunshine and the Harry Chapin Food Bank to provide the food and supplies necessary to keep pets in their homes, rather than in shelters.
