Larry Ford to present music ministry at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church

The Good Shepherd United Methodist Church is featuring a Grammy Award-winning Christian tenor singer on Sunday, April 18, at 3 p.m., for the entire community.
Special guest Larry Ford, a minister of 35 years, has traveled the United States and 28 other countries spreading the word of God through classical gospel music in English, Spanish, Swedish, Russian, Italian, Hebrew and Norwegian. After Ford and his wife, Sherryl, served as pastors for 10 years in Texas and Florida, he decided to return to full-time music ministry.
Good Shepherd United Methodist Church member Nan Friedman said Larry Ford’s two performances received a great turnout at the church.
“We try to have one concert a year that brings in an outside person,” she said, adding the entire community is always welcome to attend.
Ford presents a varied program, which the members of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church enjoy because he sings Gospel songs that the majority of them grew up with in his Irish tenor voice.
“I am a big fan of his,” Friedman said. “I have known Larry for years. He is very friendly and outgoing.”
She said Ford took to the singing portion of spreading the word because that is what he is very interested in.
“His concerts inspire people to come to the Lord,” Friedman said.
The Sunday event will feature a fellowship and concert for those who wish to attend.
“It is a nice Sunday afternoon concert for a fellowship here in the church, especially for people who don’t drive at night,” Friedman said.
She said people enjoy Ford’s concerts because he tries to involve the audience by starting his set with a couple of familiar gospel songs that everyone will know. Another reason she said she believes people enjoy his music is because he includes his family in his performances.
“He had his daughter and one of his sons sing with him at the December concert,” she said about his performance at the church.
The Sunday event will also have light refreshments served following the fellowship and concert.
Tickets for the concert are $10 and they may be purchased in advance or the day of the event.
