Quinn takes two top awards at Lake Arrowhead

Kathy Quinn, a resident of Lake Arrowhead Village, recently picked up two big awards.
The first was for having the highest average for Lake Arrowhead Dart Baseball.
“She was the female high scorer,” said proud mom Marjorie Quinn. “She had 37 home runs for the season, with an average 225.”
“I just like to play it,” Kathy said.
“Kathy is good at everything she does,” said family friend Rose Kendall.
The other award was Sub of the Year 20120 for the Lake Arrowhead Shuffleboard League. When players can’t make a game, subs fill in, and Kathy would step in many times.
“I was very busy. I also filled in for a man who hip surgery.”
What was it like to play with a group of competitive men?
“I loved it,” Kathy said.
She became so popular for working within the group that the League voted her top sub.
She said she likes a lot of sports.
“I’m from Maine and big Red Sox and Patriots fan.”
She’d been in North Fort Myers over 21 years. She also works at a grocery store part of the year.
“During Season I play all the sports. The residents are very nice in the Village,” she continued.
Dart Baseball takes good eye-hand coordination, she said, and shuffleboard takes concentration.
“I wanted to mention my partner David Atwood, who was a lot of fun. He told me not to talk and just concentrate.”
She said she’s looking forward to next year’s events.
