Homicide Suspect in Custody

David T. Chavez (DOB 6/17/79) has turned himself into authorities in Auburn, California on an active warrant for 2nd Degree Murder. Chavez has been identified as the suspect in the stabbing death of Adam D. McClenithan that occurred on April 29th in Bokeelia.

Once Chavez is processed in California, he is expected to be extradited to Lee County.

The agency he turned himself into is unknown at this time.

“Man Dies After Being Stabbed On Pine Island”

On Wednesday April 28, 2010, at 8:33 p.m., the Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a possible stabbing on Pine Island. The caller stated a man had come into her yard on Judith Road screaming that he had been stabbed. The victim was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital with a stab wound to his side. He later died.

Due to the nature of the incident detectives with the Major Crimes Unit of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. Detectives were able to learn the identity of the suspect. An extensive search was conducted but the suspect was not located.

There are no names or any other details being released at this time.
