Tips Sought In Statue Stolen From Sun Deck

1 min read

Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help in finding a colorful 500 pound lion statue stolen from a Fort Myers Beach resort, as well as the person or persons responsible for stealing the sculpture.

Detectives say the four-foot-tall lion was stolen from a concrete base at the Sun Deck Resort, 1051 Third Street, in mid-April. There were no signs that the statue was either dragged or broken, however its hefty weight would indicate that likely more than one person was involved. The statue had been a focal point at the resort for the last two years, and was painted by a local artist. The owner of the resort said the statue has sentimental value, and they intend to press charges on whomever is responsible for the

theft. The lion is valued at over $1,500.

Anyone with information on who may have stolen the statue is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for up to $1,000 in cash rewards. Tips may also be made online at www.swflcrimestoppers.org.
