ANDREA GALABINSKI Christie Davis, aquatics specialist, leads morning morning swim aerobics classes at North Fort Myers Community Pool.

The North Fort Myers Community Pool is already busy in pre-summer heat, and officials announced its summer schedule.

“We are starting our summer hours June 26, which will include water aerobics Monday through Friday at 10 a.m.,” said Christie Davis, aquatics specialist.

Public hours will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays hours are 11:30 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. Saturdays are 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and Sundays are 1 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.

“If you are a member of Share Care Plus, you may also participate in a Senior Swim from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday through Thursday,” she said.

Last year, the pool went through a make-over, with a lot of new shapes and structures. There are more pavilions, and two slides are up and running.

“We are doing a lot of birthday parties now that the pool is improved,” she said. “You can rent a pavilion for $40 for the day and pay daily admission for party guests.”

The pool will be closed one day in June. “We will have our annual summer lifeguard orientation on June 23, and that’s countywide. All the Lee County Parks Pools will be closed that day for the training.”

The pool is also hosting junior lifeguards training again this year, but the classes are full. Swimming lessons will also be offered. “We are still taking swimming lesson registration, which you can find more detail on at leeparks.org or by calling 533-7275.”

“We will also kick off our summer swim program June 20,” Davis said. “We offer Learn To Swim classes Monday through Thursday, Saturdays and Sundays and two evenings a week – Tuesdays and Thursdays. This will go through mid-August.”

The cost is $40 for eight lessons.

“We also have morning aerobics classes everyday, Monday through Friday at 10 a.m. and Arthritis Aquasize on Tuesdays and Fridays at 11 a.m. We have a new session starting every two weeks.”

Aquasize is an impact-free exercise class which improves strength, flexibility and endurance.

“It’s an inexpensive way to spend the day,” she said.

Davis said to check the website leeparks.org for specific information and times for all activities.

Admission is $1.50 for children 18 and under, $2.50 for adults and $2 for seniors 50 and older. The pool is at 5170 Orange Grove Blvd. The new phone number is 652-4520.
