Beach Soccer Festival cancelled

1 min read

The Beach Soccer Championships, which were to be held at the Holiday Inn on Fort Myers Beach during the weekend of July 17-18, has been cancelled this year due to poor interest in participation.

The festival-style event, which has made it big in two different cities in California, could not drum up enough teams to sign on to the beachside on the south end of the island.

Regarded as the second largest beach soccer festival series in the United States, California-based organizer LifeThruSports will not be making the trip cross-country for their first-ever Sunshine State appearance.

“We have decided to move the event to next year based upon the many

teams informing us just in the last several days that they would be unable to play,” said Marc Koehler, president of LifeThruSports.
