The North Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce is celebrating its new website by promoting its resources and business members to the community through a 30-day website treasure hunt campaign.

It started July 1 and will run throughout the month.

According to North Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce Director Kim Constantine, Lee County residents can navigate on the chamber’s website through 10 treasure maps and be eligible to win cash and prizes from the North Fort Myers Chamber members.

“Our ambassador, Dick Collins, thought a treasure hunt would be a fun way to learn about the North Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce and it would be fitting since pirates are a big part of the area’s early days,” said Constantine. “History goes that there are 10 treasure chests, which were buried in various places throughout the North Fort Myers/Fort Myers region in the 1800s.”

The campaign will end at The Shell Factory & Nature Park, Saturday, July 31, where the treasure chest and prizes will be unveiled and given to the community treasure hunters who were successful navigating through the 10 treasure maps.

Prizes include a free “Back To School” shopping spree from Belk, a $250 cash card from Regions Bank; power surge units from LCEC; a $100 Visa card from J Brooks and Associates; a BJ’s gas card and membership and a free exam and cleaning for a child from North Point Dental.

Clues can be found either on the chamber website, members’ websites or at local businesses.

Dr. Terry Tucker of Tucker Vision Center hosted the kickoff event and a networking night for the chamber.

The July 31 event will start at 11 a.m. and run through 2 p.m.

“There will be a big business exposition with give-aways and free hot dogs and lemonade for the kids from Costco,” said Constantine. “The first 60 kids arriving to the event will receive a ‘Back to School Back Pack’ from North Fort Myers Honorary Mayor John Gardner and Marco Office Supply. Best Buy will have an experience station set up in the Capt’n Fishbones Dolphin room, fun and play for everyone.”
