Shell Factory hosts Primary Election Party
Officials from the Shell Factory & Nature Park hosted a Primary Elections Party on August 24 with the winning State Representative District 73 Matt Caldwell and Arnold Gibbs, School Board District 1.
“It was a wonderful event, and there were about ten local principals including Dr. Douglas Santini from North Fort Myers Academy for the Arts and Principal Carol Bromby, who is a North Fort Myers resident and principal of the Cape’s Patriot Elementary,” said the Shell Factory’s Pamela Cronin. “Candidate Sonny Haas also came by.”
Besides Caldwell and Gibbs, Steven Teuber, who ran for Lee County School District 4 and Vice Chair Elinor Scricca both attended, both losing their seats.
Gibbs came in first with votes in the District 1 school board race with 41.35 percent of the vote. Mary Fischer came in second, and because no one won a 50 percent plus one majority, a November runoff will be held between the two.
“There are very few guarantees in politics but one way to hedge your bets is to invite multiple candidates to a celebration party,” said Cronin. “Educator Richard Dunmire did just that. He organized a party for the school board candidates and State Representative contender Matt Caldwell at The Dolphin Club, located at the Shell Factory and Nature Park.”
Dunmire is a teacher in the Lee County School System, and works with educational programs at the Shell Factory.
Many other guests attended. “Michelle and Larry Martini were also there to celebrate the victory of Arnold Gibbs, who the couple happily reported marrying him and his wife.”
