State of Emergency called for some Bayshore Fire District roads
Lee County Commissioners declared a State of Emergency for part of North Fort Myers, to be able to tap reserves for water cleanup.
Several roads in the North Fort Myers Bayshore area, including Nalle Grade Road on which the Bayshore Fire & Rescue Service District building sits, flooded with the recent heavy rains. Fire officials said they need them clear in case of an emergency.
This declaration allows County funds to be expended on privately owned roads to improve access to law enforcement, fire and EMS emergency vehicles.
The area currently covered under the declaration only encompasses the North Fort Myers and Bayshore Fire Districts; however, other areas may be added if similar type roads become impassible, according to Lee County Commission Chairwoman Tammy Hall.
The Declaration initially is for seven days, and will be reviewed weekly to determine if it should remain in effect.
Those wishing to report a flooding issue should complete a Request for Action (RFA) with Lee County Department of Transportation at 533-9400.
