Canned Food Drive Awards Ceremony
Area school children from across Lee County will attend a special awards ceremony at The Salvation Army Friday October 22nd at 10:00 a.m. They will be honored for raising tens of thousands of food items for The Salvation Army’s annual canned food drive.
A total of 90,863 cans were collected in 2009 compared to 97,833 in 2008. With over 141,000 cans collected in 2006, The Army had seen a significant decrease over the past three years. This year however students collected around 93,000 cans for the first increase in several years.

Winning schools will be announced and awarded for their efforts.
The overall Canned Food Drive winner will also be announced and presented with the grand trophy.
