Spirits on the Gulf at The Burroughs Home Kicks off Halloween Weekend
Spirits on the Gulf at The Burroughs Home Kicks off Halloween Weekend
Friday, October 29, join the Uncommon Friends Foundation as it presents its first “Spirits on the Gulf” event sponsored by Storm Smart on Friday, October 29, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m., at the historic Burroughs Home, 2505 First Street, in downtown Fort Myers. Guests will be regaled with true “ghost stories” of the Burroughs Home and “haunted happenings” of the Gulf Coast while enjoying brews, potions and tantalizing treats. Mona Burroughs will be there to share her ghostly experiences as a resident of the home. As guests hear about spirits that are believed to still haunt the Gulf Coast, they can partake in spirits of another kind. The event will feature chef selections of paired wine and delicacies prepared by several top local restaurants including Sunshine Seafood Caf, Twisted Vine, Center Plate, and The Edison Restaurant. Ghostly costumes and masks are encouraged, but not required.
Tickets are $40 per person with sponsorships available from $250 to $1,000. Admission includes a food and wine tasting, ghost stories and tours of the Burroughs Home, and cash bar. Reservations can be made online at www.uncommonfriends.org or by mailing a check to the Foundation at P.O. Box 811, Fort Myers 33902. All proceeds will benefit the Foundation’s Character Education for Lee County Students Program. For further information, call Arlene Roth at 239.337.9505.
