Ray Hair State Farm Insurance Agency is again doing a charitable drive for the holiday – the third year of collecting for toys at the office on Pine Island Road.

The agency regularly collects for the holidays and for back-to-school items for children in the area.

“Our clients and the general population have been very generous for all of our drives,” said owner Ray Hair.

A holiday decorated box is on the main reception desk, waiting to be filled with toys and gift items,

“The need is probably greater this year than it has been in the past,” he said.

The agency will collect through Dec. 15.

“Then we turn over what we collect to the Salvation Army. I think it is my responsibility as a local business owner to support the community through my business.”

Donations are earmarked for local children in need.

“I think we have good people who live here,” he said of North Fort Myers, and wants to help all that he can. “We want to help make sure every child has something for the holidays.”

He said he believes next year won’t be as hard on so many as it has this year.

“I do think our economy is picking up. More and more people are discovering the advantages of living in Southwest Florida.”

His agency covers everything insurance from auto to life. Of general insurance trends, he said he is seeing a greater need for life insurance.

“One thing we have seen in this economy is one spouse passing away without life insurance to cover burial and help the other continue to live.”

The agency also will be involved with driver training courses for ages 55 and over, that will be held the first Wednesday of every month beginning in December. “The course will have drivers save money on their auto insurance,” said Hair. Call for details.
