Man sets self on fire in North Fort Myers
At 7:45 p.m. yesterday, The Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a call concerning an incident where a man doused himself and his car with gasoline and set himself on fire.
This occurred near Del Prado Extension and Barbie Lane in North Fort Myers.
According to a Sheriff’s Office spokesman, a juvenile passenger was with the unidentified man. Preliminary reports say the man started making threats to kill himself to the juvenile, and the juvenile escaped from the car and contacted family members who called in the incident.
The man was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital and then life flighted to Tampa General’s Burn Center.
Law enforcement officials are now investigating the incident.
