Upriver RV Resort & Campground each year collects money and food from the residents and “adopts” foster families to provide gifts for Christmas, with the help of the Caloosa Red Hatchees Red Hat group.

“This year we adopted 16 foster children in three families,” said Caloosa Red Hatchees Queen Carole Kerr. “The children provide us with a ‘wish list’ which we try to grant to them, as well as clothing and candy. We also provide a complete Christmas dinner as well as some staples for their cupboards in the coming year.

“This is donated solely by the residents with no outside donations. Each year we adopt more children. The past two years the Red Hat group, The Caloosa Red Hatchees, have collected the money, shopped and wrapped the gifts. We also box up the food for pickup. This year we also had help from some non-Red Hat ladies in the park.
