Detectives with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Robbery Unit are searching for a man who showed up at his estranged wife’s residence, pulled a gun on her and a companion and proceeded to beat her and rob him. Deputies were called to the 4800 block of Leonard Boulevard in Lehigh Acres shortly before 3:00 am on January 23, 2011.

According to the victim, Jermaine Eugene Gibbs showed up at her residence and knocked on the door, demanding to be let into the house. When the victim refused, Gibbs smashed a window and entered the residence. Once inside, Gibbs pulled a handgun and used it to strike his wife on the head. He also grabbed a portable fan and struck his wife with it. Gibbs then pointed the handgun at his wife’s companion, took his cell phone and demanded he leave the residence at once.

The companion left, but was able to look through the front window and see Gibbs repeatedly punch his wife with a closed fist and then try to strangle her.

Gibbs fled the scene. The victim was transported to the hospital where she was treated and released.

Gibbs is a black male with black hair and brown eyes. He is 27 years old (DOB 3-23-83), is 6 feet tall and weighs about 200 pounds. Gibbs is reportedly a semi-professional boxer and is considered armed and dangerous.
