Lee County Genealogical Society upcoming meeting

The Lee County Genealogical Society which meets in Fort Myers has recently celebrated our 35th anniversary. 296 members strong, the society welcomes anyone who is interested in their family history.

The society meets 16 times a year 12 monthly meetings and four Saturday quarterly meetings. It has many special interest groups for members and partners with the Fort Myers-Lee County Public Library in presenting genealogical programs. It’s website is LCGSFL.org and contains the only searchable database for the genealogy reference collection at the Fort Myers-Lee County Public Library.

Lee County Genealogical Society is a proud member of Florida State Genealogical Society (FSGS), Federation of Genealogical Societies (FGS) and National Genealogical Society (NGS).

The next regularly scheduled meeting is Thursday, Jan. 20, from 1 to 3 p.m. (Doors open early at 12 noon so you can take advantage of Fun Stuff For Genealogists) at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 4141 DeLeon St., Fort Myers.

Featured Speaker: George G. Morgan, genealogist, author, lecturer and President of AHA Seminars will present “Push and Pull: The Reasons for Migration” This presentation will examine some of the reasons why it is important to investigate history, geography, and sociology to understand what motivated your family to relocate and help to trace your ancestors’ movements.
