Victim’s name released in fatal motorcycle accident
Florida Highway Patrol has released the name of the man who died as a result of a motorcycle crash on Sunday morning.
The accident occurred at 9:20 a.m. at the corner of US-41 and Hancock Bridge Pkwy.
Rymond J. Hannum, 58, of Fort Myers Beach was hit by a vehicle driven by Helen Lindroth, 86, of Grand Forks, ND.
According to FHP, Lindroth was on US-41 (SR-45) in the southbound left turn lane to 13970 N Cleveland Ave (North Shore Shopping Center). V02 was northbound on US-41 in the outside lane, approaching the entrance to North Shore Shopping Center. Lindroth proceeded making the left turn, entering the path of Hannum. Hannum attempted to slowly swerve to avoid contact with Lindroth. However he was unable to avoid contact.
Lindroth failed to yield the right of way, causing the front of Hannum motorcycle to collide with the right front of her vehicle.
Hannum was ejected and came to final rest in the outside lane nearest the grass shoulder, and later expired as a result of injuries sustained in the traffic crash.
The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet, said Lieutenant Chris Miller.
