Unique Murder Mystery performance to be held at Horizon Village
A unique and locally written and produced Comedy-Mystery Who-Done-It will be presented at Horizon Village Clubhouse on Saturday, March 26.
It will feature the likes of Judy Garland, Shirley Temple, Veronica Lake, Peter Lorre, Boston Blackie, Ma and Pa Kettle and more, in a unique combination of an old style radio production and an on stage Black & White Film Noir setting from the 1940’s.
The production is called Lady In The Lake and is described as “a fresh, two and one-half hour tribute to these two historic styles of entertainment,” said writer Pete Barstow. “It will be presented by our Thespian Club.”
When saying it features these icons, Barstow said they are the group’s own creation of the legends. The production will feature 11 actors in different roles, all dressed in black and white.
The Thespian Club is new to Horizon Village.
“It’s a new club, just this year,” said Barstow. “We we asked for people interested in theater either on stage or off, and we had about 35 people show up.
“We have one of the largest clubhouses in the area with a professional stage,” he said. The capacity of the clubhouse is 300-plus.
Barstow is no stranger to professional writing or events.
“I’ve been in broadcasting, retired for over 45 years, that exposed me not only to writing but creating different kinds of events.”
His background includes producing entertainment venues throughout the U.S. and Europe for major corporations.
“We’re looking to put on something that is a good time at Horizon,” he said.
The performance begins at 7 p.m. on March 26, at Horizon Village at 9200 Littleton Rd.
Tickets are $8 and available at the Horizon Clubhouse Box Office Mondays, March 14 and 21, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., or by calling Rose Merchant at 997-2062.
