At the next regular North Fort Myers Civic Association Meeting, one agenda item is the subject of the North Fort Myers Library. For its size, it is one of the busiest locations in the county, many county officials have said.

Many hope that the library will grow, and supporters are asking that members of the public who use the facility come to the meeting to show support.

Lee County Library Administrator Sheldon Kaye will a guest speaker.

“I met him at the Reading Festival and invited him to one of our meetings,” said Civic Association member Rose MarieRinkevicz. She also is a former vice president and now treasurer of the local Friends of the Library. “Civic Association members have had a long-time interest in the library. In fact, that’s how I became involved in the association.”

She said she met Civic Association President Gregg Makepeace outside of the library when he and active member and wife Bonnie where there collecting signatures for library improvements and perhaps even a new library to submit to county officials.

“If you love your local library and care, come to the meeting,” Makepeace said. “There is a bona fide need for a bigger and better library.

“We are hoping to get an understanding of how the library system works and hoping our speaker will answer questions.”

The library is busy both in and out of seasonal times. “We not only have users from North Fort Myers, but from Cape Coral and Lehigh Acres.”

And that isn’t only for books, DVDs and CDs. There are also the numerous adult and children’s programs and extremely busy free tax services offered there.

“We really need the community to come show their support,” Rinkevicz said.

The meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 10, at 7 p.m. at Community of Christ Church, located at 368 Herron Rd.
