Art League of Fort Myers offers summer art workshops for young artists
The Art League of Fort Myers will offer two week-long art workshops for elementary through high school students this summer.
Participants will learn how to improve their drawing skills, as well as how to use a variety of art media, including clay, printmaking, mixed media and paint.
Well known local artist and educator Susan Mills will teach the workshops.
The workshops present an excellent opportunity to explore a student’s artistic interests, as well as to develop new tools and techniques. Students will participate in both individual and group art projects, with the goal of stimulating creativity and of developing a greater appreciation of art.
The workshops will also provide participants with the opportunity to exhibit their art in a gallery show as art works produced by the students will be featured in a show to be held at the Art League gallery at the end of classes.
The classes will run from 9 a.m. to noon and will be held:
— July 25 to 29 – Elementary and Middle School Students
— Aug. 1 to 5 – Grades 9 to 12
The cost of five days of classes is $45 per student. Students may register in advance at the Art League gallery, by phone at 239-275-3970, or online at artleagueoffortmyers@embarqmail.com.
The Art League of Fort Myers gallery is located at 1451 Monroe Street in downtown Fort Myers. Regular hours of the gallery are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
