Gulf Coast Symphony Announces Summer Reading Rehearsals
The Gulf Coast Symphony, Southwest Florida’s premier community orchestra, holds the first of its summer reading rehearsals on Tuesday, June 14, 7-9:30pm at the Crestwell School.
Each of these summer reading rehearsals will focus on a different major symphonic work. The reading session will be followed by light food and drink.
The Gulf Coast Symphony will rehearse Dvorak’s Symphony No. 8, op.88 on June 14. These sessions are open to all area symphonic musicians. These sessions are meant to be less formal than then rehearsals during the season, and give members of the community who are not current members of the symphony an opportunity to explore future participation with the organization. Crestwell School is located at 1901 Park Meadows Drive in Fort Myers. All practice sessions are led by Maestro Andrew Kurtz and detailed Gulf Coast Symphony membership and fall audition information will be provided at each practice session. The Gulf Coast Symphony is Southwest Florida’s premier community orchestra. Its seventeenth season features its highly popular Symphonic Sensations Concert Series at the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall (Broadway Heroes on January 22; AMERICA! Featuring Chris & Dave Brubeck’s Ansel Adams:America on February 26; Richard Rodgers Songbook on March 18; Cirque de la Symphonie on April 21), three Classical ACCESS Concerts, two free outdoor pops concerts, and two Youth Concerts at Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall in October and June. The Gulf Coast Symphony sponsors a comprehensive arts education program, Musical Gateways, dedicated to providing ongoing educational opportunities for adult and youth alike, that includes in depth artist residencies for its partner schools and the entire community.
