NFM Chamber launches The Great Community Treasure Hunt online
The North Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce is launching its second annual Great Community Treasure Hunt on Wednesday, June 15.
It is a 45-day website campaign that features local businesses, with winning cash and prizes. A live festival with more prizes, giveaways and the announcement of the winners will be held Saturday, July 30.
“Last year we had 10,000 participants play online and last year’s festival brought over 500 people to enjoy prizes and giveaways,” said Executive Director Kim Constantine.
The Breeze Newspapers and the North Fort Myers Neighbor as title sponsors helped kick off the campaign June 9 during the North Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours at the Shell Factory & Nature Park.
“The Breeze Newspapers is always excited about helping out with community events and glad we were asked to be the title sponsor again this year,” Tony Lawson, marketing director of the North Fort Myers Neighbor, said. “We also look forward to a successful chamber event on Saturday, July 30.”
Starting June 15, Lee County residents can navigate on the chamber’s website through 10 treasure maps and be eligible to win cash and prizes from North Fort Myers chamber members.
Constantine and Dick Collins, of the chamber’s board of directors, came up with the idea last year. They thought a treasure hunt would be a fun way to learn about the North Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce and that it would be fitting since pirates are a big part of the area’s early days.
“History stories go that there are 10 treasure chests, which were buried in various places throughout the North Fort Myers and Fort Myers region in the 1800’s,” said Constantine.

The online Treasure Hunt Campaign starts at the Shell Factory June 15 and ends at The Shell Factory & Nature Park on Saturday, July 30.
There the treasure chest and prizes will be unveiled and given to the community treasure hunters who were successful navigating through the 10 treasure maps. Answers to clues about the North Fort Myers chamber members will be found either on the chamber website, members’ website or local businesses.

The July 30 live event starts at 11 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. The response last year was fantastic, with more than 500 community members at the event, Constantine said.
This year, there will be a large Business Exposition with giveaways.
“The Shell Factory will provide a discounted family package for all to enjoy fun in the park. The first 150 kids arriving to the event will receive a back-to-school backpack from North Fort Myers Honorary Mayor Michelle Brisendine,” Constantine said.
The chamber foundation will provide the backpacks, and Marco Office Supply will supply the school supplies for kindergartners through 12th grade. Best Buy will have an “Experience Station” set up in the Capt’n Fishbones Dolphin Room for everyone.
The North Fort Myers Chamber is inviting local business members to be a ‘Chamber Member for a Day’ to promote their business at the July 30 event business exposition. Contact Kim Constantine Executive Director for marketing opportunities and details 997-9111.
