“If you cannot figure out what ‘OMG, that was hilarious LOL!! I can’t believe that! TTYL @ teen camp J,’ you may be a parent still mystified by texting and the digital age teenagers are submerged in,” said Libby Olive, camp director and senior recreation specialist for the North Fort Myers Community Park.

“Cybercitizenship” is a new addition to this year’s Teen Camp at North Park, and limos are also involved.

North Fort Myers Teen Camp starts June 20, with additional sessions available weekly throughout the end of July.

“The best part about it (Cybercitizenship) is that teens will discover very useful knowledge in a fun atmosphere,” said Olive. “It won’t be like school.”

“One of the favorite teen camp activities is the limo ride and pizza party,” she and some of the past teen campers said.

“My favorite part of teen camp is seeing the friendships evolve among the teen campers. We are a small camp so we become one big close family. We have extreme fun for six weeks straight,” Olive said.

The North Fort Myers Teen Camp, at 2021 North Tamiami Trail, invites youth ages 12-16 to join.

Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., with a lunch and an afternoon snack provided daily. The registration fee is $75 per week. Register via the Internet at: leeparks.org and save 10 percent, paying only $67.50 per week.

The North Fort Myers Teen Camp also takes weekly field trips, including Sun-N-Fun Lagoon, Boston Red Sox Stadium, King Richard’s Fair, and the infamous limo ride and pizza party for the winning “Teen Survivor” team.

Weekly teen camp calendars are posted online at: leeparks.org. For more information about the North Fort Myers Teen Camp, contact Libby Olive at 652-4512 or Lolive@leegov.com.

Traditional Camp also

offers more fun in the sun

Christine Susterich, senior recreation specialist for Lee County Parks & Recreation, will be heading up the traditional youth summer camp, as she has done for the last several years to raves from both campers and parents.

“The thing that is so awesome about summer camp is that the kids are getting up, getting out, being active and intermingling with new friends,” she said.

The Traditional Summer Camp is open to children ages 6-13.

Activities include indoor and outdoor games, crafts, swimming, fishing, special speakers, field trips to Sun Splash Family Waterpark, bowling, movies and more.

Lunch, snack and limited field trips for only $75 per week. Sign up online at: leeparks.org and save 10 percent, paying $67.50 per week.

Sessions for both camps include:

Session I: June 20-24

Session II: June 27-July 1

Session III: July 5-8

Session IV: July 11-15

Session V: July 18-22
