August is Awesome Adoption Month at LCDAS
As the end of summer approaches, Lee County Domestic Animal Services still has an abundance of pets needing homes at its facility. During the shelter’s August Awesome Adoption promotion, adopters will have a chance to save a life while saving money, too.
There are more than 200 pets presently at the shelter and in foster homes. The shelter hopes to reduce the number of pets needing homes by reducing adoption fees from 20 percent to 100 percent.
Adoption fees during the month of August are:
Puppies – $75 (regularly $95)
Adult Dogs – $25 (regularly $75)
Kittens – $20* (regularly $75)
Adult Cats – $10* (regularly $50)
Senior Pets** Free (regularly $25)
* = Kittens and cats are always 2-for-1
** = Age 6 years and older
“We want to eliminate any reason someone would have to acquire a pet anywhere but at a shelter,” says Donna Ward, LCDAS Director. “We have every type of breed, size or age you could want including many pure-bred animals.”
The agency firmly believes that with the selection available at the shelter and the cost to adopt drastically reduced, there is no better place to get your next best friend.
Although reduced, the adoption fee will still include the same veterinary services valued at over $500. All pets receive spay or neuter surgery, age appropriate vaccinations, rabies and county license (for pets 3 months and older), heartworm test (for dogs 6 months and older), feline aids and leukemia test (for cats), flea treatment, worming, microchip ID, 10 day health guarantee and a bag of Science Diet pet food.
